Patrick Antonius was battling Isildur1 last night on Full Tilt and managed to build the biggest online pot so far which Patrick took down. They were playing several heads up tables at once, 2 holdem and 2 Omaha. Match end around 1:30am when this hand came up and Isildur1 decided to quit all the tables for the night.
Patrick played this hand almost perfectly, he bet the flop, paused and bet on the turn and then a slight pause before shipping it on the river. It looked like aggressive counter for a missed draw and Isildur1 bought it.
Rough guess is Isildur1 lost around 2.7 million last night, given that he was up 5 million last month it is not going to kill him or anything
Howard is just laying down the best hands left and right, he is playing very scared and only waiting for the locks before he bets or calls. That is not going to make any money at a table with that many good aggressive players. He is not getting paid off on his good hands but laying down a lot of money on all his medium hands. It is getting a little painful to watch him get bitch slapped that much. Hope he gets it together. Tom Durr bitch slapping him on the last hand was so sad, Howard could have bet at any point after the flop and taken that pot down.
There was one interesting hand in the played. Patrick Antonius blind bets and Phil Laak raises it to 6k under the gun with A J , Howard calls with 88 and Patrick calls it with T 4.
Flop: 3 2 4.
Patrick checks and Phil Laak bets 16k, Howard folds ( I have no idea why he does not re-raise ) and Patrick calls the bet. Interesting read by Patrick. He has seen Phil Laak check big overpairs on flops 2-3 times so far so I assume that he is putting Phil on med over pair like 6-T that he is worried about over cards coming or exactly what he has, two big over cards and he needs to bluff to win. Phil is suffering from opposite play where he is betting the complete opposite of what his hand would warrant. Since Patrick is either way ahead or way behind he just calls.
Turn: K.
Patrick picks up a flush draw with his now middle pair and checks. This is kind of a risky card since it could have hit Phil if he was c-betting with AK on the flop. Phil bets 37k and Patrick calls. Now I am a little more curious why he called at this point. He is still beat by all over pairs and 22, 33 for a set. Now AK and KQ just got there. All he can now beat is AQ, AJ and maybe AT. I assume he is calling for the small chance he is ahead, flush draw and two pair with a T. Plus the read that if that card had helped Phil he would have most likely check. Phil does not like to build big pots with just one pair hands, so if that hit him he would have slowed down checked to keep the pot small.
River: Q.
Patrick checks again as another over card comes down. This has removed AQ from the list he can beat. He is only ahead of AJ and maybe AT. Phil bets 80k on the river and Patrick calls it. This is a good call, he is getting 2-1 on his money, and is 60-40 to be ahead. I my mind phil would only value bet the set of 22 or 33 and bluff the AJ and AT. Since it is much less likely he has a pair of 22 or 33 and raised under the gun with them you have to put more weight on the AJ & AT.
I think he had to call, the hand was just to out of character for Phil, and phil should know that when you play out of character, people get curious and are just more likely to call.
This episode is a little more interesting that the last but not much.
First Daniel makes a good play and bets 2.5k for his 65 in late position but he gets called by the aggressive Patrick Antonius who has position on him with A T .
Flop: 4 3 8
Daniel makes a good c-bet of 4k and Patrick decides to take on off with AT and see if Daniel bets again on the turn or maybe just take it away from him. This is a good call in my mind as he knows Daniel will play small suited cards aggressively and given this flop Daniel is likely to still be drawing at this point as the str8 is not there and the flop is rainbow.
Turn: A
Daniel makes another good bet of 10k with his str8 and flush draw. This is were things break down in my mind. Patrick just calls here instead of re-raising Daniel and taking the pot down right now. He took one card off with his A T to either re-steal or hit a higher pair which he now does. In my mind he should have re-raised to 40k and took the pot down on that draw heavy board. Plus it looks like a float one to the turn re-steal so if Daniel did call him down with a draw or one pair he would be getting really bad odds to do so. Make people pay to guess wrong…
River: 4
Now Daniel decides to check. Patrick then thinking his pair of Aces is good bets 18k which Daniel just calls.
No I am not as smart as Daniel is, but I do not understand this play.
If he thinks that Patrick is very likely to bet more than he would call in a value bet then going for a check raise makes sense. But he did not check raise him, he just called the bet on the river. What was he worried about? Why would you draw at a hand that you are not going to bet when you make it?
Did he think he was beat and was just calling down to see a cheap show down? That does not make sense as Patrick would have had to have trips or two pair on the turn and if that was the case he would have re-raised when the board got really draw heavy.
Did he think Patrick also back doored into a higher flush? That is just crazy.
Did he not re-raise because he did not want to face a all in re-steal. Possible.
This did not make a lot of sense to me at all, since Patrick had been calling all the way I would have continued to value bet on the river for a nice pot sized bet of 30k and see if he calls me down with his pair of Aces. He could have at least tried to check raise for another 18k and see if Patrick made a crying call. But in the end he got very lucky that Patrick bet at all, he could have just as easily turned over his hand as the flush had got there and second pair just started beating his hand as well.
The rest of the show is just a bunch of stupid prop betting about really stupid shit like push ups. If your going to prop bet make it about something really good. This was for the most part painful and the only good thing was Tom Durr showed up at the very end which gives me hope that next week it will get better.
